California Memories continued

Journeys start somewhere.  Maybe from drawing boards or plans...sudden inspirations.  Ideas that hatch within us, and like a seed, grow and develop into something beautiful.  Sometimes they are mandatory, and loom ahead like deadlines, other times they are that wanted escape, an adventure into the big, curious world around us.

Our trip to California started in July, when the CTY program sent an email about a conference in San Diego.  The plans were put in motion and finally realized, when the check-in process was done and the whole crew sat in the familiar mono-rail that connects terminals in MCO.

Our flight took us from Orlando to Los Angeles.  5 hours and 30 minutes in all.  We landed in the LAX  at nearly 8 PM, and were immediately greeted with the hustle and bustle of a mega city.  People with a direction and purpose, sometimes lack there-of, going every direction imaginable.

The terminal alone was an eye-opening experience.  Nearly 64 million people travel through LAX every year.  That would amount to some 175,000+ passenger per day...give or take few thousand, depending on a day or season.  It isn't too hard to imagine that one would, perhaps, feel small... and feel their insignificance in the vastness of this "sea of people".

In those sentiments we fetched our suitcases, found the bus that took us to the car rental station, and set out to explore the city around us.  Los Angeles.  Nice to see you again, after so many years!  :)
